Corporation goals that were presented to Triton School Board members over the summer were recently revisited when members met for their November meeting.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle shared that those goals include increasing reading comprehension to 85 percent of students reading at or above grade level by the end of the school year and having at least 75 percent of students pass standardized math assessments at the end of the school year.
Riffle noted that progress towards reaching those goals is measured through various benchmark assessments throughout the year.
Another goal that was presented was decreasing the number of students missing 10 days of school to 3 percent. Riffle said that with a population of approximately 1,000 students, that would mean that 3 percent would be around 30 students.
Riffle said that attendance was a bit of an issue last school year so officials felt that addressing it should be a priority. He mentioned how they’re actively working to ensure that fewer days are being missed.
He explained, “The accountability piece to that is making phone calls to parents when students are absent to make sure that they know that’s happening and kind of reporting out on that attendance goal.”
In addition to the corporation goals, Riffle said he reiterated Triton’s institutional goals. Those goals include fully implementing the Trojan PRIDE program in all grade levels, having 100 percent of students and staff engaging in service learning opportunities and creating a Triton Service League.
Riffle also mentioned other goals such as creating a thriving culture where morale and retention of employees is at 98 percent, finalizing plans for the Old Gym, tennis courts and track painting and training and mentoring new staff on instructional practices and expectations for the Triton School Corporation.
