Several Plymouth School employees will get raises, following action by the school board Tuesday. Board members ratified the 2019-2020 teacher contract.
It includes a raise of at least $1,400 for eligible teachers, and the starting base salary goes up by more than $2,600 to $37,000, according to Superintendent Andy Hartley. Provisions are in place to make sure the pay for current teachers will keep up, as well. The agreement also includes an increase in the hourly rate for professional development, along with a raise for intersession teachers.
The corporation will no longer contribute into employees’ 401(a) accounts after December 31. Instead, it will increase its contribution to a voluntary employees’ beneficiary association plan. As part of that, the school board passed a resolution officially allowing the corporation to end the 401(a) contributions.
Board members also approved $1,400 increases for eligible administrators and salaried classified staff. Eligible hourly classified employees will get a raise of 50 cents per hour. Hartley added that some positions’ base salaries were increased, as well. On the other hand, Hartley acknowledged that insurance premiums are going up.
Plymouth Education Association President Laura Kruyer thanked Hartley and the school board for their efforts. She added that it was nice to meet for negotiations, knowing that they had a common vision moving forward.
