The Bremen School Board approved pay increases for classified staff members during their meeting last Wednesday.
Superintendent Dr. Jim White stated that the raises varied depending on position but they ranged from 33 cents up to approximately 75 cents and will be applied to an employee’s existing hourly wage.
Dr. White noted that an instructional assistant came before the board members and spoke in favor of the raises.
He explained, “We had one classified staff member speak at the beginning of the meeting just talking at length about the need for classified staff and how hard they work.”
There are a variety of classified staff positions such as school nurses, cooks, custodians and a number of other vital jobs within the corporation that fall outside of certified positions like teachers and administrators.
