Triton Elementary School students were able to raise more than $11,600 during a recent fundraiser, according to Superintendent Jeremy Riffle.
He explained, “We just had the walk-a-thon fundraiser so our students don’t have to go door to door fundraising to offset the cost of field trips and that stuff so it’s just 100 percent of the donation goes to the school an the kids.”
The results of the walk-a-thon were discussed during the 10th Annual Trojan PRIDE Kick-Off that was held on Friday.
The students who did the most laps during the walk-a-thon were rewarded with bicycles and other top performers were given various prizes as well.
Students walked a total of 7,923 laps which is the equivalent of about 2,000 miles. To help put that in perspective, school officials highlighted the fact that’s the approximate distance from Indiana to California.
The school set a goal to raise $8,000 and they ended up surpassing that by more than $3,000! The total amount of money raised came to $11,606.10.
As Superintendent Riffle highlighted, that money will be utilized to help pay for scholar study trips but it will also help purchase Trojan PRIDE incentives as well.
PRIDE is an acronym that stands for Personal Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Enthusiasm.
