Community members and their canine companions are invited to attend the annual ‘Bark in the Park’ event hosted by the Marshall County Humane Society.
It will be held in Centennial Park on Sunday, October 6th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Pledges totaling at least $25 will get you an event t-shirt. All proceeds gathered from this fundraiser will assist the Humane Society and the animals they care for.
Event organizers say that in addition to walking the beautiful trails at the park, participants will have a chance to enter fun contests to win prizes.
The contests include best costume, most beautiful female dog, most handsome male dog, owner-look alike, best trick, most vocal, cutest puppy under-6 months-old, biggest dog and smallest dog. Individuals can also win a prize for having the most pledges.
Some rules that officials shared for past events include that all dogs must be up-to-date on their shots and should have a current ID tag. Dogs should be socialized and they are required to remain on a leash at all times.
Owners are required to pick up after their pets and should refrain from bringing female dogs that are ‘in-season.’
