The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s enrollment is down slightly from last year. Superintendent Andy Hartley told the school board Tuesday that the preliminary figures from last month’s official count show that there were 3,430 students.
“It’s a loss of 39 right now,”he explained. “A lot of that, we can attribute to a large class that left us last year. Our elementary really looks kind of steady from last year to this year, and so, like I said, most of that loss comes from PHS.”
Despite that decrease, Hartley said projected revenue is actually up slightly, due to adjustments in the state’s funding formula. He added that another legislative change is that the February count date will once again be factored into school corporations’ revenues.
Hartley commented that the Plymouth Community School Corporation has good systems in place to monitor enrollment and make any necessary financial adjustments.
