Marshall County’s unemployment rate continues to drop. The county’s September unemployment rate was 2.7 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s down from three percent the month before and 2.8 percent during the same period last year. But there are actually fewer Marshall County residents working, and the county’s labor force has shrunk somewhat.
The county’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was 2.8 percent for September, while the U.S. as a whole was at 3.3 percent. Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.3 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at 3.6 percent.
