A Fulton County man was arrested Thursday, after a two-hour standoff with police at his home near Delong. Indiana State, Fulton County, Kewanna, and Rochester police were called to a home in the 9400 block of West County Road 525 North at around 12:25 p.m., after getting a report of a suicidal man threatening to harm his neighbors.
Officers say Jacob Howard, 32, had barricaded himself in the home with his 14-year-old daughter. Indiana State Police hostage negotiators reportedly tried to get Howard to release the girl and leave the home, but they say he refused to comply.
Finally, at around 2:35 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police SWAT team reportedly went inside and took Howard into custody. Officers say Howard was wearing a homemade bullet-resistant vest at the time, and they later found a shotgun and ammunition in his home.
State Police say Howard faces charges of intimidation, resisting law enforcement, and unlawful use of body armor.
