Marshall County Attorney Jim Clevenger provided Commissioners with an update about the ongoing multi-district opioid litigation the County is involved with when they met last Monday.
He provided officials with a detailed memo that touched on a few topics related to the litigation. One of the first things he addressed was that certain reports about there being a settlement with Purdue Pharma were unfounded at the time the memo was written. Attorney Clevenger also informed the Commissioners the counsel in Indianapolis that they’ve been coordinating with during this process alerted him that officials will soon have to make a decision about joining an international effort. He explained, “At some point, you’ll be asked to make a decision about being a part of a global negotiating group and you don’t have to make that decision yet, I’ll get you some more information down the line about where we’re at on that.”
In his memo he mentioned that the “opt-out” deadline for that is in November.
