Officials at the Culver Community School Corporation are making a concerted effort to emphasize Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) this school year.
Superintendent Karen Shuman reported that a trip that will help expose students to STEM was approved by the school board when members met Monday night.
She explained, “AP Biology is going to a genetics conference and that is STEM-related, as far as them getting exposed to research on the collegiate level.”
Shuman added that as an element of bringing that STEM focus into professional development as well, there is also a conference that teachers can attend in Indianapolis that covers how to effectively incorporate the subjects into lessons.
