Triton School Board Reviews Portfolio from Redesigning Counseling Initiative

Thanks to a generous grant the Triton School Corporation has been able to create a counseling portfolio that addresses the corporation’s vision statement and objectives.

Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said officials were presented with the portfolio during this months school board meeting. He then provided some background about the grant and what it was used for.

He explained, “We received a counseling grant from the Lily Foundation. I believe this is year three of implementation and so both our counselors and a committee of parents, administration and students were all on a committee called the Redesigning Counseling Initiative

Riffle added that an element of the school’s portfolio is related to certification through the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).

He shared, “They’re actually looking to be ASCA certified counselors and so through that you have to go through a process of creating a mission statement, a vision statement, what are your objectives? And our objectives are better communication with parents and more service opportunities for our kids.”

Riffle noted that, in all, the Lilly Foundation awarded Triton a $20,000 planning grant in addition to the counseling grant that totaled $91,103.
