The Triton School Board approved the corporation’s student transportation safety policy when members met last week.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle mentioned that all schools are required to establish such a policy following the major events related to bus accidents that occurred last school year. He discussed what the policy includes.
Superintendent Riffle explained, “Just procedures, expectations, what do we do as far as our routes and how we drop kids off and those types of things. So really it’s just spelling out what we already do, but it was never really in writing.”
Riffle added the school’s compliance with legislation an element of the policies. This includes procedures related to picking up and dropping off door side, following all safety protocol on state highways and things of that nature.
