Triton Officials Go after Secured Safety Grant for Bus Cameras

The Triton School Board made a decision related to student safety by approving the purchase of two bus cameras when members met on Monday.

Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said the school board voted on purchasing the stop arm cameras so they could be installed as two new buses are being built. He noted it’s less expensive to do it that way rather than waiting until after they’ve already made.

Superintendent Riffle explained that the school corporation is also going after a grant that would allow them to purchase even more cameras.

He stated, “Right now we actually applied for a Secured Safety Grant that we’ve actually applied for to put all new cameras on all the buses and that would include a stop arm camera.”

According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Hoosier lawmakers appropriated approximately $19 million to the Secured School Safety Grant program in their last session.
