One of the reasons a Solarize Northern Indiana Workshop was hosted in Plymouth this week was to educate the public about how to start the solar energy process.
In addition to that, it was to help people and providers save time by identifying certain factors that may limit your ability to go solar right away. MACOG Environmental Planner Leah Thill shared what some of those factors could include.
She told meeting attendees, “If you’re here thinking about going solar you might discover ‘I think I have too much shading, I’m in a historic district or historic neighborhood, I have a homeowners association, my roof needs to be changed in a year and I can’t afford both new shingles and solar.’”
Thill continued, “Hopefully you discover those things here so that only those who are ready and able to make that evaluation seriously go on to request a site visit.”
She said that time-saving step is what allows solar installers to feel comfortable offering below market pricing through initiatives like Solarize Northern Indiana.
This portion of the workshop, as well as additional details, provided Tuesday night will be featured on MAX 98.3 FM this Sunday at noon during our Maximum Impact program.
