Marshall County’s unemployment rate moved a bit higher last month, but it’s still lower than it was during the same period last year. The county’s June unemployment rate was three percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s up from 2.8 percent in May, but down from 3.4 percent in June of 2018. However, the actual number of people working was also up from the month before, while it decreased from the same period last year.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was 3.3 percent for the month of June, while the U.S. as a whole was at 3.8 percent. Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.8 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at 3.8.
