Marshall County continues to see a low unemployment rate. It was 2.8 percent in May, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s unchanged from the month before, but two-tenths of a percent lower than it was the same period last year. However, fewer Marshall County residents appeared to be working last month compared to May of 2018, as the county’s labor force shrunk somewhat.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was 2.9 percent for the month of May, while the U.S. as a whole was at 3.4 percent. Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.4 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at 3.5.
