Argos Town Council members considered an ordinance that would create a new classification for the electric rate schedule when they met last Wednesday.
Attorney Derek Jones presented the ordinance to the council members. He noted that while there are no existing businesses that would fall into this category as of right now, it’s being considered as a proactive measure.
Town Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom added that the town already has a large power ordinance on the books and the document presented to the council is a large power/high load-factor ordinance. He said the new ordinance allows them to lower the kilowatt price if a customer is using a very significant amount of electricity.
Council members suspended the rules and considered and approved the ordinance on all three readings.
