Marshall County’s unemployment rate dropped by almost one percent between March and April. The latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows that Marshall County’s unemployment rate dropped from 3.7 to 2.8 percent, putting it back where it was during the same period last year.
That’s in spite of the fact that fewer Marshall County residents appear to be working, as the county continues to see a decrease in its labor force.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was 3.1 percent for the month of April, while the U.S. as a whole was at 3.3 percent. Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.3 percent, while Starke County’s is highest at 3.7.
