Marshall County SWCD Offers Free Food Plot Seed to Help Nourish Animals and Insects

The Marshall County Soil and Water Conservation District will once again be offering free food plot seed to community members to help nourish local animals and pollinator insects.

Depending on the type of seed planted, a food plot can provide nourishment for deer, turkey, pheasant, other bids and/or pollinators.

In a Marshall County SWCD press release officials encouraged people to place food plots away from roadways and close to a source of cover.

This year, they’ll be offering a pollinator mix, a sorghum mix and wildlife sunflowers. All the seeds are available in gallon bags and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The Marshall County SWCD is located in the USDA building at 2903 Gary Drive in Plymouth. Seed can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information, visit MarshallCountySWCD.org.
