Marshall County’s Unemployment Rate Continues to Drop But Still Higher than Last Year’s Levels

Marshall County’s unemployment rate continues to drop, but it remains higher than it was this time last year. The county’s March unemployment rate was 3.7 percent, down from four percent the month before, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

But when compared to the same period last year, the unemployment rate increased by four-tenths of a percent. The county’s labor force has shrunk somewhat since last March.

Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal levels. Indiana and the U.S. both had a non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.9 percent in March. Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at three percent, while Starke County’s is highest at 5.4.
