Bourbon Town Council Permits Bates Real Estate Corp. to Proceed with Annexation Process

Bourbon town council members got the ball rolling on a proposed annexation when they met Tuesday evening.

Town officials were informed that the Bates Real Estate Corporation is looking annex an 88 acre parcel of land at the corner of 12th and Cedar Roads for future development.

According to Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger, while council members did provide their support for the annexation process to proceed, there’s still more steps to come.

She said that a fiscal plan must be created and at a certain point the request will go before the town’s Plan Commission. Those members will have the authority to make a recommendation to proceed with the annexation or identify justifiable reasons why it shouldn’t be permitted.

The annexation process for the Bates Real Estate Corporation will be addressed more in future meetings.
