The Argos School Board recently found out what it would take to bring the school’s auditorium up to current state standards.
Superintendent Ned Speicher said when members met last week they received a presentation about upgrades that are needed in the auditorium which is over 20-years-old.
He explained, “The sound system and lighting system which are old integrated circuits, in today’s world they’re operated on computers so bringing those systems up to current standards and also there’s a new standard on flame-retardant curtains.”
Speicher said that the assessment was performed by Associated Controls and Designs.
In addition to discussing auditorium upgrades as well as the proposed drainage and roof repair projects, Speicher said board members received some information about financing.
He shared what was covered, “If the board decided to do any of these projects or some of these projects or all the projects it showed what the funding look like for the school district”
He continued, “It was just telling them, if you decide to go ahead board, here’s how you could pay for it and it would not affect our tax payers in a negative way.”
Speicher noted that all the presentations provided to school board members last Monday were purely informational. He said that no official actions have been taken yet but he expects some solid decisions to be made, about at least some of the projects, within the next few months.
