Bourbon Water and Wastewater Superintendent Steve Stacy provided an update about some lift station issues and asked for permission to send an employee to wastewater certification training during his report at last week’s town council meeting.
Stacy alerted members about some problems that have been occurring with the lift stations recently. Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger shared that after some pipes were cleaned out it reportedly led to some grit build-up in some of the lift stations.
Stacy told the council that the north lift station pump needed to be sent to Kester’s Electric Motor Services for repairs. However, he noted that if it cannot be repaired, he would need to replace it. Members permitted Stacy to do whatever he has to do with the pump since it is crucial to the lift station operation.
Stacy was also seeking permission to send a member of his crew, Steve Walsh, to wastewater certification training. He noted the training sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Knox running from April 9th through May 14th.
Clerk-Treasurer Berger explained that employees are required to work in their field for at least two years before they’re permitted to get this type of training through the state. Since Walsh is coming up on his two year mark, he will now be able to attend.
Members provided their approval for Walsh to attend the certification training.
