Bourbon Water and Wastewater Superintendent Steve Stacy recently presented Town Council members with an initial cost estimate to convert the town’s meters to a radio read system.
According to minutes from last Tuesday’s meeting, Stacy explained that the current meters are having reading issues and noted that he suspects the town could be losing revenue due to them not reading correctly.
He informed the council that he received a quote for new Census meters about a year ago. At that time, the expected cost of replacing about 700 meters with the radio read system was approximately $210,000.
No official actions about the possible switch over were taken during the meeting.
