Argos Science teacher Megan Huys recently requested permission to start gauging student interest for a trip to Belize in the spring of 2021.
Superintendent Ned Speicher reported that school board members approved her request at their meeting last Monday.
He also shared a bit about what the proposed trip to Central America would entail, “They’ll study their culture and the history of the Mayan ruins and look at their farming.”
He continued, “So the permission the board gave was for the teacher to see if there’s student interest and if there is that gives them a few years to plan and fundraise.”
He noted that if students are interested, Huys will have to come back to the board to get formal approval for the trip itself.
Superintendent Speicher said the school corporation offers this type of opportunity every couple of years so each student has a chance to tag along on a trip if they’re interested.
During this year’s spring break, a group of Argos students and chaperones are touring the sights of Europe. They’ll be on that trip until Friday, April 5th.
