Summer hours for the Argos Community School Corporation were considered during this week’s school board meeting.
Superintendent Ned Speicher noted which employees would be most impacted by the summer schedule.
He shared, “That’s for our custodians and that, we go with a four day week during the summer; four 10 hour days instead of five 8 hour days for our hourly employees.”
Superintendent Speicher explained why they have the summer hours set up in such a way.
He stated, “Then we use an extra day to shut off the air conditioning. It’s an energy saving step. We can go Friday, Saturday and Sunday without air conditioning that way and it does save us some money.
School board members provided unanimous approval for the AC-free days and the summer schedule for hourly employees.
