Those interested in running in the 2019 Municipal Primary Election have one week to file their declaration of candidacy with the Marshall County Clerk’s Office. All candidates must be filed by noon on Friday, February 8th, with no exceptions.
Filing information from Voter Registration Clerk Dona Seifer indicates that the Plymouth Mayor’s race will be contested, with three individuals signed up so far. The names listed include incumbent Republican candidate Mark Senter, Republican Ben Fisher and Democrat Josh Walker.
The only other contested race at this time is the one for the District 4 Plymouth City Council seat where Democrat Angie Rubpchok-Schafer has filed to run against incumbent Republican candidate Randy Longanecker.
Additionally in Plymouth, Nick Fisher, Bill Walters and Jeff Houin have all signed up for three open at large City Council seats.
Meanwhile, Duane Culp has filed for the District 1 City Council Seat, Don Ecker Jr. filed for the District 2 City Council seat and Shiloh Carothers Milner is currently the only person who has filed for the District 3 City Council seat.
With the exception of the Town of Culver, all of Marshall County’s other municipalities have someone filed for the Clerk-Treasurer’s position. Jeanine Xaver, Lisa Mullaney, Janet Anglemyer, Kimberly Berger and Michelle “Shelly” Schmidt have filed for the Plymouth, Argos, Bremen, Bourbon and La Paz Clerk-Treasurer seats, respectively.
In the Town of Argos, Charles Randy Snead and Shawn Hartley have filed for at large town council seats and one seat remains open. In Bremen, all four at large seats have been filed for, with Bill Daily, Rick Graverson, James Leeper and Barb Sauter listed.
So far Larry Wattenbarger is the only individual registered as an at large town council candidate in Bourbon and Rich West has been the only one to file for the same position in Culver. One at large seat is still available on the Bourbon Town Council and two are available on Culver’s Town Council.
This was the most recent candidate filing information available, as of Friday, February 1st. If you have any questions, contact the Marshall County Clerk’s Office at 574-935-8713.
