Saturday’s snowfall led to numerous crashes and slide-offs on area roads, according to Indiana State Police. Troopers in the Bremen District responded to 24 crashes and 12 slide-offs, according to a tweet from Public Information Officer Sergeant Ted Bohner.
The ISP Lowell District saw 10 personal injury crashes, 52 property damage crashes, and 13 slide-offs, just on I-80/94 and I-65 between midnight and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Police say most of those incidents were caused by drivers going too fast for conditions.
Meanwhile, the Starke County Highway Department was still working to clear roads Sunday. Department officials posted on Facebook that crews had been out since 6:00 a.m. and would continue until their areas are done.
