Plymouth City Council Approves Use of Flood Cleanup Money for Loader Repairs

The Plymouth City Council has agreed to use money set aside for flood cleanup to repair some of the city’s equipment. Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver told council members last week that the Street Department had problems with both of its loaders in the past year. The total repair bill came in around $24,000, according to Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt, which is more than what was budgeted.

Council members agreed to pay the remainder of that cost with money left over in the city’s $100,000 additional appropriation for flood cleanup. Xaver noted that the the loaders were used as part of the cleanup process.

She explained that the original plan had been to contribute the leftover money to the United Way. There should still be some left to give them after the repairs are paid for, but Xaver didn’t know how much. She added that the city had already given the United Way $25,000.
