The Plymouth Board of Works took action last week to close out the fall 2018 street and sidewalk projects. Board members approved a change order for the closeout documentation, after City Engineer Rick Gaul presented a summary of the cost under-runs and overruns. “Essentially, the amount of the change order is a minus $29,033.11, basically,” he said, “and it was all described on the next pages that we had out, if you wanted the details.”
However, the board of works will have to wait a bit longer before moving ahead with this year’s spring projects. Bids for the work were initially scheduled to be opened during last week’s meeting, but Gaul said that ended up being pushed back to January 14. “When we were in the pre-bid meeting, we had a discussion about it,” he explained. “We basically had all the contractors were there that normally bid, and they felt that they might have trouble with, because of the holidays and some meetings going on, getting numbers from their subs. Basically, it won’t affect us that much, so we just moved the receiving of the bids out until the 14th, at the next meeting.” The cost of the projects is expected to be covered, in part, by the state’s Community Crossings matching grant program.
Also during last week’s meeting, the Plymouth Board of Works ratified an executive order from Mayor Mark Senter related to the Rees Theater renovation project. It was explained that a dumpster had been needed, before the board could officially approve the request.
