Marshall County’s unemployment rate dropped slightly in December, but it was still higher than it was during the same period last year. The county saw a 3.2-percent unemployment rate last month, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s down from 3.4 percent the month before, but up from 2.6 percent in December of 2017. The county’s labor force continues to shrink.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate remains lower than the state and federal numbers. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate for December was 3.4 percent, while the national rate was 3.7. Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate of Marshall County’s neighbors at 2.7 percent, while Starke County is highest at 4.6.
