Charitable organizations looking to secure funding from the Marshall County Community Foundation (MCCF) have until 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday, February 1st to submit a grant application.
According to MCCF Executive Director Linda Yoder, the grants awarded by the Foundation help meet emerging needs and inspire innovation. Money provided through the MCCF Community Fund supports specific projects or programs, typically focusing on health and human services, recreation, the environment, education and the arts.
Executive Director Yoder shared that Marshall County’s nonprofit community is vibrant and full of passion, with a commitment to support projects that improve the quality of life in the area. Yoder added that she’s proud that the Foundation gets to play a part in their life-changing work.
Applicants are asked to be from a 501(c)(3) organization. However, applications will also be accepted by organizations with a 501(c) IRS status whose request is charitable in nature. The special request can be for start-up costs for new programs or the expansion of needed programs or one-time projects or needs.
MCCF Representatives shared that donations to the Community Fund that come from individuals and corporations help make the biannual grant cycle possible. Additionally, MCCF can now give a 2:1 match for contributions made to the fund, meaning that as the Community Fund grows larger from donations, the amount of grant monies that can be awarded to local profits will continue to increase.
Foundation officials also noted that in addition to the MCCF Community Fund, several ‘named’ unrestricted funds also support emerging needs in the county. These funds include the Barbara and Ralph Winters Community Fund, the Brian and Patricia Kitch Family Community Fund, the C&M Overmyer Unrestricted Endowment Fund, the Philip and Sylvia Bieghler Community Fund, and the Paul and Carol Nye Community Fund.
