The Plymouth Street Department expects to pay a bit less for fuel in 2019. Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt told the board of works last week that he was able to lock in a price with Ceres Solutions.
“It went up a little and came back down, and we locked in, actually, at the price that was read that night,” he explained. “So for gasoline, we are locked in at $2.038 per gallon, and diesel fuel, we are locked in at $2.549 per gallon. And just to kind of tell you, from last year’s prices, gas is $0.362, so 36 cents, cheaper, and diesel is actually 15 cents cheaper than last year’s price.”
Meanwhile, the board of works agreed to award bids for 2019 street materials to both IMI and Stockberger Trucking, at Marquardt’s recommendation. “They each have a little different material than the other, and we will go with the one that’s the lowest price,” he said. “That way, if something happens that they’re not open or don’t have material and we need it, we can always get it from the other.”
Awarding the bids to both IMI and Stockberger has become common practice in recent years.
