Argos school officials wished farewell to three retiring board members when they met Monday night.
Superintendent Ned Speicher said the members who will be stepping out at the end of the year were recognized and awarded plaques for their years of commitment to the school corporation.
He shared, “In total, over 20 years of experience retired off the board.”
Speicher continued, “Doug Middleton served three and a half years and then Brett Sanders, he had served eight and half years and Kirk Nellans served almost nine years on the board.”
Superintendent Speicher noted that when officials decided to switch from and appointed school board to an elected one, all the incumbent board members decided to step down from their positions to allow their seats to be open to new community members in the first ever school board election.
The elected members, Chris O’Dell, Jennifer Porter and Angie Smith, will be officially sworn in at the board’s first meeting in 2019 on Monday, January 14th.
In the meantime, Speicher said the new members have been familiarizing themselves with school board procedures by attending regular meetings as well as orientation sessions.
