Students Are Encouraged to Explore Available Funding Opportunities During National Scholarship Month

The National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) recognizes November as a time to raise awareness of scholarship opportunities for current and future college students. That is why November is recognized as National Scholarship Month.

According to information provided on Scholarships.com, National Scholarship Month used to be acknowledged in May until 2008. However, since many scholarship providers begin posting new scholarship information and competitions for the next academic year around November, it was moved.

Securing scholarships can be especially vital to successfully funding a college student’s academic expenses. Those additional funds can help students from a disadvantaged background gain educational opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable.

One advantage to receiving funding from a scholarship is that a student doesn’t need to rely as much on student loans that will eventually need to be paid back. Scholarships can also help students spend less time working a job to pay their way so they have more time for their studies. They can even assist with efforts to study abroad.
