A few different project updates were delivered at this week’s Bremen School Board meeting.
Back in July, school officials approved a $132,000 quote from McGuff Roofers for repairs to the roof at the elementary/middle school.
At Monday night’s meeting, Superintendent Dr. Jim White shared that contractors will do their best to complete certain sections before it gets too cold but the project will have to be finished up in the spring time.
Dr. White also shared that the chilling tower at the elementary/middle school, which was about three decades old, has been disconnected from the air-conditioning system and is no longer functional. He said over the next few months a new system will be installed.
When board members approved this project in August, Dr. White estimated that the replacement unit and installation costs would be around $30,000.
One final project that won’t begin until the football season ends is the lighting upgrade at the football field. Dr. White has mentioned that the field is long over due for an upgrade as the current lights and wooden poles are apparently from the 1960s.
White previously shared that more durable metal poles and LED lights will be installed to replace the old lighting at a cost of approximately $494,000.
As a reminder, officials at Bremen Public Schools secured a bond of approximately $4 million earlier this year and they’re utilizing those funds to complete these upgrades around the school.
