The Plymouth School Board has finalized preparations for the upcoming change in the school funding structure. Next year, each school corporation’s General Fund will be replaced by an Education Fund, while the Transportation, Bus Replacement, and Capital Projects funds will be combined into an Operations Fund.
The Plymouth School Board approved the creation of the new funds back in June. On Monday, board members took the next step by authorizing money to actually be placed in them.
Any money in the General Fund on December 31 will move into the Education Fund on January 1. Meanwhile, the capital projects, transportation, and bus replacement fund balances will be transferred into the Operations Fund.
According to school board records, members passed a pair of resolutions Monday, granting permission to the corporation treasurer to make the transfers.
