Now that the season has officially wrapped up, new lighting is going in at the Bremen High School football field. Superintendent Dr. Jim White said the project is currently ongoing and it’s expected to wrap up in about 3 weeks.
The superintendent previously mentioned that the existing football lighting was installed in the 1960s and was on wooden poles while the replacements will be made of a much sturdier metal material.
When the school board approved this project back in August, Dr. White reported that the price of taking down the old lights and poles and installing brand new ones will be approximately $494,000.
The project is being funded with a portion of the $4 million bond that was taken out for various upgrades. Approximately $1.7 million of unencumbered funds remain from the bond. White said school officials are looking at various projects that they’d be able to put that money toward but nothing has been chosen just yet.
