Bourbon officials discussed an OCRA wastewater planning grant that could potentially pave the way for a construction grant further down the line during Wednesday night’s Town Council meeting.
Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger explained that the planning grant is worth $35,000 and it is intended to help officials review the Town’s wastewater system and plan for any potential repairs or upgrades. She noted that council members signed a contract with Wessler Engineering this week and they’ll be conducting the system review.
Clerk-Treasurer Berger mentioned that the process will take about 6 to 7 months to complete and they’ll be looking to see if there are any problems with lift stations, checking if there is any loss of water and performing various other tests to identify any other issues with the system.
She added that once the planning grant is complete, the Town would be eligible to apply for an OCRA construction grant that would help cover the cost of the work that needs to be done.
