The Triton School Board approved the ratified the collective bargaining agreement for certified teachers when members met on Monday.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said that as a part of the new contract, all teachers will receive a $1,500 increase to their base pay plus an additional $500 that goes toward insurance.
He thanked all the essential people who were involved in the process and acknowledged that the contract is a reflection of the corporation’s values.
Riffle said, “People coming together to say what’s best for our teachers and our corporation, I think that’s a tribute to our people and just making sure that our teachers know they’re appreciated as much financially as we possibly can, we’d love to get them all a million dollars but it’s not possible.”
The superintendent noted that the only change to the contract was that some clarifying language that was added to the section about sick and personal days.
Riffle said that since the contract was approved by the school board it is now in effect. However, it will be submitted to the Indiana Education Employment Board and they will inform school officials if there is any language that needs to be amended through corrective action.
