Marshall County’s unemployment rate went down last month. The county saw a rate of 2.8 percent in September, down from 3.5 percent the month before, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. But that rate is unchanged when compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the actual number of people employed is down, and the county’s labor force has shrunk slightly. Marshall County continues to see lower unemployment than the state or national levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was three percent last month, compared to 3.6 percent nationally. Of Marshall County’s neighbors, Kosciusko County has the lowest unemployment rate at 2.3 percent, while Starke County is highest at 3.7.
