Plymouth Police K9 Assists with 2 Searches on Wednesday, Leading to 5 Arrests

Plymouth Police K9 Jax had a busy day on Wednesday, assisting with two different searches that subsequently resulted in five separate arrests.

According to Plymouth Police K9 Officer John Weir, units were called to the Speedway parking lot around 11:30 a.m. on September 5th in reference to two subjects in a car that were apparently harassing people walking by and acting as if they were under the influence of something.

Officer Weir said when he arrived, he walked Jax around the vehicle and the K9 reportedly indicated the presence of some type of narcotic. A search was conducted and suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia were found, according to the officer’s report.

The car’s occupants, 36-year-old Brad David Wright and 30-year-old Tanya Lee Bellanger were lodged in the Marshall County Jail.

Additionally, Officer Weir and K9 Jax were called to the Pointe Apartments around 1:30 p.m. that afternoon in reference to subjects outside in a red van who reportedly seemed to be under the influence of something and allegedly appeared to be smoking marijuana.

Officer Weir reported that when he arrived at the scene, he walked up to a red van and a white truck that were parked next to each other. He noted that the subjects in the vehicles looked like they were talking to each other and mentioned that the odor of burnt marijuana was apparent.

K9 Jax was walked around both the van and the truck and reportedly indicated the presence of an illegal substance. Weir’s report indicates that searches were conducted on both vehicles and suspected methamphetamines, marijuana and paraphernalia were found.

All three subjects present, 36-year-old Joshua L. McCarty, 50-year-old Brenda L. Hurley and 63-year-old Deborah L. Warner were taken into custody.
