Marshall County’s unemployment rate went up slightly last month. The county saw an unemployment rate of 3.5 percent last month, up from 3.2 the month before, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. But that rate is unchanged when compared to the same period last year.
The actual number of people working was lower compared to August of 2017, and the labor force has shrunk slightly, as well. Marshall County continues to see lower unemployment than the state or national levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was 3.7 percent last month, compared to 3.9 percent nationally. Of Marshall County’s neighbors, Elkhart County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate, at 2.9 percent.
