A Marshall County tradition that honors the past kicks off today. The Rentown Old Fashion Days event will start at 3 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m. tonight. The fun continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or individuals 13-year-old and younger are free with parking.
This event takes place in the quaint community of Rentown, located three miles east of Bremen. According to the event description provided by Marshall County Tourism, there will be steam and antique tractors on display as well as threshing, wood carving, cider press and rug weaving demonstrations that will reveal old skills.
Additionally, event-goers can enjoy train rides, an antique swap meet and indulge in the plethora of food that will be available, including brats, hamburgers and open kettle soup. On the sweet side, there will be a huge bake sale as well as homemade ice cream and fried pies.
A special feature of this year’s event is that a custom saw-milling and timber framing craftsman who will be on site showing the “old time” techniques that go into building a time frame structure.
