If you’re interested in serving as one of the very first elected Argos School Board members, you have until noon on Friday, August 24th to file in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office.
Superintendent Ned Speicher noted that a reminder was issued during Monday night’s school board meeting to alert board members, as well as interested individuals in the community, that there’s still time to file.
Earlier this month, Argos school officials received permission from the Indiana Department of Education to shift from an appointed board to an elected one. In November’s General Election, three people will be voted onto the board. While the new members will be determined at that time, they will not take office until January 1st of 2019.
The school board is a five-member board but due to term differences, two of the appointed members will remain on the board for the time being. Monty Peden and Jennifer Hurford will retain their positions this year, but eventually, their seats will also be up for election.
