The Argos School Board received a presentation Monday night about the school’s lacrosse team.
Superintendent Ned Speicher stated that last year was the first time the school had a lacrosse team and some of the people involved with the program came to the school board meeting to share how they felt about it.
He said, “The kids spoke and some parents spoke and the coaches spoke. They were very excited and encouraged to be able to play lacrosse and were wanting to do it again for another year.”
Superintendent Speicher noted though the sport may not be found at many local schools, the co-ed Argos lacrosse team was able to go up against some other Hoosier students in their first year.
Speicher explained, “We compete against some surrounding schools. There are actually quite a few schools in the state of Indiana, not so many in this area.” He continued, “The closest has to be Culver Academies and there’s an Elkhart school and a Mishawaka school and some in the Indianapolis area that we’ve been competing against.”
Speicher added that the equipment for the program was purchased with a grant from Lacrosse Association. He said students will be back out on the field for year two this spring.
