Approximately $1,000 Raised at 2nd Annual Dash n Splash Fundraiser

The weather was perfect for Saturday’s Dash n Splash event hosted by the Marshall County Humane Society, according to Executive Director Nancy Cox.

Close to $1,000 was raised for the shelter during this weekend’s event that included a leisurely hike to Culver Academy followed by a cool down at the beach.

Cox said this was the second year of the event and there was a larger turn out than last year, with about 25 to 30 dogs and pet owners in attendance. She added that she hopes the word gets out about how much fun the attendees had and that even more people and pets will come out when the event is held again next August.

While the money raised at the fundraiser will go a long way to help the shelter cover the cost of operation and stock up on supplies, Cox said they’re always in need of a few different items including bleach and paper towels for cleaning, kitty litter and dog and cat food for older and younger animals. The shelter could also use old blankets and towels to use for bedding as well as dog and cat treats, stamps and laundry detergent.
