Unemployment rates moved higher during the month of June. Marshall County’s unemployment rate stands at 3.4 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
That’s four-tenths of a percent higher than the previous month and a half a percentage point higher than the same period last year. Compared to June of 2017, there were 258 fewer people in Marshall County’s labor force last month, and 362 fewer people were employed.
Marshall County continues to see lower unemployment than the state or national levels. Indiana’s non-seasonally adjusted rate was 3.6 percent during the month of June, compared to 4.2 percent nationally. Of Marshall County’s neighbors, Elkhart County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate, at 2.7 percent.
