Bourbon Street Superintendent Roger Terry provided council members with an update about the town’s Street Assessment Plan when they met earlier this month.
Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger explained that a Street Assessment Plan has to be completed every two years. She noted the town’s street department is coordinating with the firm JPR on their assessment this year.
She said, “What they do is they go in and they rate your roads on a one to ten basis. So that’s what helps us when we go to apply for our grant work.”
Berger noted that the state requires this assessment to be completed biennial if you plan to apply for state or federal money for road work. She stated the streets are analyzed and ranked according to priority so that grant officials can reference the assessments to know which roadways need the most assistance.
