Bremen Public School officials recently held pre-bid meetings over a couple of proposed projects.
As previously reported, the school was issued a $4 million bond that will be utilized for various renovations and upgrades. While some of the projects are already off the ground, others are still in the preliminary stages.
One of the items discussed during the pre-bid meeting last week was a cooling tower that needs to be replaced at the elementary/middle school.
Superintendent Dr. Jim White noted that the cooling tower is more than 30-years-old. He said right now they’re anticipating that the cost to replace the existing unit will be around $250,000.
The lights at the football field at the high school were also discussed. Dr. White commented that the current lights are from the 1960s and they are on wooden poles.
He said with that project, the lighting will be updated and metal poles will be installed. The superintendent added that they won’t get to that project this year but it will be tackled before next season.
